Travel as described by dictionaries of the world is the moving of people or things from one point to another. But travel is so much more than just physical movement of things. It is more than just an act that ends with material movement. It enriches the soul, increases knowledge, empowers the mind and more importantly rejuvenates the soul and body. Traveling is a great way to get away from the daily chores and be at ease with oneself. People travel for many reasons. Recreation, vacation, relaxation, exploration, discovery, tourism or even migration constitutes travel. Travel that truly enriches the mind, body and soul is worth engaging in. Travel is not the destination you seek but the path you undertake. The journey undertaken is more impressive on the mind; the journey is more adventurous than the destination itself. Unfortunately, this is not the case with most as the destination is why people choose to travel now.
Traveling is essential for many good reasons. In today’s hectic world, in the rat race, people forget what is essential. Travel has now become an activity to be enjoyed once in a while and is now an extravagance for many. For most, traveling is to wind down and vacation and sightseeing and not necessarily indulge in exploration or the fun and adventure that travel brings with it. One can travel on foot like our forefathers or on the many distinct modes of transport available today. Tour bus, rails, planes, ships, cars, motorcycles are just some of the modes of travel that people utilize. In the modern time, travel for many is from home to office or from home to the grocery store and then back. The essence of travel that is escapism is lost on many. Escapism is the state of having wandering and imaginative thoughts in order to remove one's self from reality. Escapism can come from many things and traveling is one of them. Through travel one can escape the reality of life and live in a place free from the tensions of everyday living. Travel can change perceptions, change mentality, improve social capabilities and calm the brain.
