    Review- Amazing Baby

41hDr78calL._SL160_Truthfully, I put of even looking at this book until yesterday because the last thing I want to do with  my failed reproductive status is look at adorable babies.  But turns out Amazing Baby is much more than just adorable babies.

Yes, there are lots and lots of adorable baby photos.  It's really about the growth and development of a child during the first two years.  With interesting facts about how babies grow and change, it touches on all their body systems and how they start to move, learn, and communicate.  For example, did you know that human babies are the only primates to smile at their parents?

My favorite part is the overlays.  There are several full color tracing paper overlays that lay on top of a photograph showing, for example, how the skeleton of a baby looks.  It appeals to the science geek/nurse in me.

It sells for $40, but Amazon has it right now for a good bit less and free shipping.  It would make a nice baby shower gift, especially for first time parents.  You can also try to win one!  Leave a comment on this entry and I'll pick a winner Saturday for a copy of the book.

I have followed your your blog for the last couple of years and really enjoy seeing how the boys are growng up. The are so adorable !! I love the socks in the vent story!! Sounds like a "boy" thing. My son is 16 and still does stuff like that !! LOL.
Keep blogging...I don't sign often ( but I do read your blog on a regular basis and think you are an awesome mom!! ) the napping will get better...hang in there. Love and best wishes from South Carolina. Kathy

Ooh, I'd love to win one! That looks like such a cool book!

What a cool book! I'm one of those science geeky types myself, so I would love to get a look at it. I've been reading your blog for a looong time (since before the boys were born!) but never commented. But I did want to comment on the nap thing - my little girl (22 months) was doing the SAME exact thing, wouldn't stay in a crib or a toddler bed, wouldn't sleep at all, would just keep herself up forever and ever - finally after an incident with a dirty diaper and poop art all over her bedroom at naptime, I just broke down and put her crib back together and bought a crib tent for it. At first I was skeptical because it reminds me of a baby cage, but it has worked an absolute charm! She now naps AND sleeps 11-12 hours EVERY night!! So I don't care if people think I'm wierd for having a crib tent :) She just needed a way to realize that bedtime is for sleeping, I guess. Anyway, hope I win!

ohhh, that sounds like a very cool book. I love the idea of the overlays.

I did not know that human babies are the only primates to smile at their parents ... but I'm so happy that we do it! Man, it used to feel like sunlight shining right on my face when she'd smile at me in those early days. So majestic! You should post some of the other trivia and fun facts for those of us unlucky in lotteries.

That sounds like a cool book. I myself would like to win it, and when I'm done reading it, pass it on to my sister who is pregnant with her first one.

That sounds really cool! I'd love to win it!!

That book sounds awesome. I think i would give it to my mum who is a foster mum to babies and a geeky nurse type too. She would love it. If the Aussie Dollar comes up a bit soon i may just buy her one for Christmas from Amazon. Love you blog have been reading for years but never commented.

Ooh, pick me!! I'd love a copy!

    What a cool book!

should post more often but get wrapped up in work and toddlerhood. But would love to win a book if selected!

My 3 1/2 year old has gotten better at staying in bed when we put him to bed. But he doesn't get a nap from us usually and he is pretty tired by the time we put him to bed. He also doesn't have the stimulus of another person though. that must be tough.

    Me me meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

That sounds like a great book! I would love it, and my kids would enjoy it as well. We enjoy the geeky "how does this work" aspect of medical books and science textbooks.
